A message from
Department Chair Wafik Iskander

On behalf of our faculty and staff, welcome to the Industrial and Management Systems Engineering Department (IMSE). The department offers a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering; master's degrees in industrial engineering, industrial hygiene, and safety management; and Ph.D. programs in industrial engineering and occupational health and safety.

The mission of the department is to advance these professions through innovative and high quality academic programs, relevant research, and professional services that address the needs of West Virginia, the nation and the world.

We are proud of the success of our graduates and the dedication and talent of our 16 faculty members and three staff persons. In total, the careers of our faculty and staff represent nearly 300 years of service to students at WVU, embodying the wisdom and experience to successfully prepare industrial engineers and occupational health and safety professionals for the 21st century.

The IMSE program at WVU is dedicated to meeting students' needs. We are committed to developing student strengths in technical abilities, personal development, problem solving, and practical experience, preparing them for careers in industry, business, government, or advanced professional degrees.

Our faculty works extensively with students in such areas as communication skills, personal growth and development, creation of summer internship opportunities, senior capstone project experience and permanent job opportunities.

As faculty and staff we value, for students in our program, to experience:
